The GaGa steals the show as the Cah Cah goes home"

American Idol
didnt pull any April Fools jokes on us tonight, as America finally did the right thing and sent Megan (no) Joy home. In a night where a real pop star stole the show, it seemed pretty clear to Megan herself that she would be takin' her final bow as she goofed around and conceited defeat throughout the results show. But let's not get ahead of ourselves...

The show began with a strange and indulgent recap of the previous night's performances that looked like a montage from the best moments of the 2009 Idol Olympics. It was a tad on the self-important side, dont ya think? Following shots of previous Idols in the audience, including a still bitter Alexis Grace and Jar Jar Binks, er, excuse me, Jason Castro, we were treated to an appalling Idol Ford commercial that proved that none of these contestants will be auditioning to be a replacement in the Black Eyed Peas, or as a guest rapper for, um, anyone in the near future. And that was only the first of 3 train wrecks of the night.

The second came, as usual, with the Idol group performance of Journey's "Dont Stop Believin". It was cheesetastic and further cemented the fact that these group performances are lip synched. Once again, Megan proved she had no rhtyhm in her singing or dancing in this number, let alone her bad lip syching. In fact all the Idols lip synching abilities are really bad, save for Adam and Matt. And poor Scott wasn't even near the mike when he "sang" his solo. Hello, producers, can we please just stop the insanity of these numbers?
Luckily, right after that was a nice performance by the current Idol champion David Cook with his second single, "Come Back to Me" off his platinum debut album, David Cook. Then, finally we got down to business and Ryan unveiled the bottom 3: Megan, Allison (NO!) and Anoop.... Um, America, Allison is fantastic, Scott should've taken her place. It just needed to be said.

Next was the highlight of the night as current Chart Diva Lady Gaga just danced onto the Idol stage with her # 1 smash "Poker Face". Beginning the song on piano, then busting out the backup dancers, Gaga proved she is more than just a dance artist. She's a true and brilliant pop sensation. And how about that zipper eye makeup? Awesome!
Following Gaga, Allison was sent to the sofa, safe again this week, thank goodness... Anoop and Megan sweated it out through the commerical break before Megan was declared the lowest vote getter. Cut to Simon, saying they weren't even going to bother debating using their Judges Save on her (and rightly so). Then we were treated to the final train wreck of the night. Yes, I'm talking about Megan's horrid encore of "Turn the Lights Down Low". After causing my ears to bleed one last time, the increasingly irritating, but pretty, remember she's pretty, Megan got the buh bye montage.

So, I'll say it again, America actually got it right! ... Hopefully they'll do the right thing and boot Scott next week when the top 8 remaining finalists tackles songs from the year they were born. Until then, I'm cah cah-ing my way to the end of this blog.
